Photography

Just Above Sunset Photography takes as its subject matter pretty much all of Los Angeles, with a special emphasis on Hollywood.

Here you find images of everything from architectural studies to what seems to be "real life" here in Hollywood, and Hollywood history, to the beaches, to the array of odd Los Angeles neighborhoods, to nature photography with a special emphasis on local botanicals.  And along with extensive architecture studies, from Hollywood in the Art Deco Golden Age to the severely modern, there are all the strange cars out here. And there are those special events, like the Rose Parade and various premieres at the Chinese Theater. And there was that ride in the Goodyear Blimp and in a restored World War II bomber. For a photographer out here, this is a target-rich environment. The site is usually updated daily.

The site is arranged as follows -

New Photography

Recent Photography - the pages of photography from the previous week -

Images 2003-2007 - the complete photo archives, arranged by subject matter -

Guest Photography - collections of images from contributors elsewhere -

The high-powered Wall Street attorney stepped away from securities law for the Fourth of July weekend and took the family to Disneyworld.

The International Desk (Our Man in Paris, Ric Erickson, editor and publisher of MetropoleParis, provides notes from Paris, with photos, and when possible, Our Man in Tel-Aviv, Sylvain Ubersfeld, provides the words and images from there. This is the archive of all of those pages.

    Saturday, July 19, 2008 – Alan's Saturday Night

Our Man in Paris, Ric Erickson, knows me far too well.

"The camera relieves us of the burden of memory. It surveys us like God, and it surveys for us. Yet no other god has been so cynical, for the camera records in order to forget." ~ John Berger
