Wednesday, October 31, 2007 – An Eye for Odd

Westwood, the "village" at the south edge of UCLA, offers what you’d expect in a college town – a bit of the surreal, as college kids are fond of that.  Maybe it's just that it was Halloween.  Things jump out at you, like the giant camera at Bel Air Camera in the middle of Westwood Village.

Across the street, a handy chart –

Next to the chart, this (actually just the door of a blood bank, and nothing ominous) –

But in the next window…

Tarot card, "The Magician" - in the window of psychic shop, Galey Avenue, Westwood Village

A theological puzzle a few doors north – and do be careful with this particular elevator.

Local mythological beast (different theology) –

The context, Fox Westwood Village Theater, 1931, P. O. Lewis, 961 Broxton – Spanish Colonial Revival mixed with Zigzag Moderne, and nicely restored –

The saddest sign in Westwood –

Sign of the times on the way back to Hollywood – HBO has a new show and they're trying to cheer us up, or something.  This is the west wall of the office building at 9000 Sunset Boulevard, across from the Roxy.
