Google Building at 604 Arizona Avenue in Santa Monica

It's Geeks at the Beach. Actually, it's a sort of hidden place, full of people who are changing the way we understand the world outside ourselves – the Google Building at 604 Arizona Avenue in Santa Monica.  Inside, the engineering team here is working on the hard stuff – distributed systems, information retrieval algorithms, the user interface, new and novel search features, and scalability issues, as the amount of everything indexed is now larger than mere mortals can imagine.  Nothing is simple – it's just supposed to seem simple.  It's odd to realize this little place is a key to how the world seems to work now, as everyone is now looking up everything.
