Guest Photography - Rural Spring

More from upstate New York, from a old friend, Matt Fusco, who works as an attorney in Rochester but lives with his wife Peggy far south, down in the Finger Lakes area - Barnum's Gulch, near Canandaigua. This is spring.

"Peggy found these while teaching in Webster, New York, about twelve years ago.  They now adorn the top of our driveway."

"Here is my favorite from this weekend. This shed was used to house the generator that produced the only electricity here until the 1950's."

"The little yellow guys were winter aconite - the first of the bulbs that we see. The other is a crocus or really a trio of croci."

"The snowdrops are also among the first bulbs we see. They are pretty much wild and grow in small clumps on the edge of the woods or at the base of trees."

"The baby Japanese iris often only last a day or two in this climate and altitude. A hard rain will wipe them out easily."
