Saturday, March 8, 2008 – Set Dressing

So it's a movie set – Greystone Mansion a few miles west in Beverly Hills. You just saw the place in There Will Be Blood, or you saw it in the fifty-three other films shot there.  But on a quiet Saturday morning – no blood, and no film crews – just the gardens, and no one around. There's just Cistus purpureus - Orchid Rockrose.

And there are the winter Calla Lilies – Zantedeschia aethiopica (the big white ones) –

How about a bit of blue?

Complex blue blooms

A daylily – but not a lily, really – actually a member of the small genus Hemerocallis, flowering plants in the family Hemerocallidaceae – is case you were wondering. True lilies are Lilium in family Liliaceae.  It doesn't matter.

No idea – but there is a new Star Trek movie in production down at Paramount.  Maybe they'll be doing location shots here.
