Sylvan Summer

Photography

From our friend, the business school professor in upstate New York, what summer vacation is supposed to be.

A long holiday week on the eastern shore of Lake Michigan – just north of Muskegon for those who know the territory – a 19th Century cottage high on a bluff above sand dunes stretching to the community beach below.  On an isthmus protecting "White Lake" harbor behind us, with an original - still inhabited - lighthouse at the channel, six houses down the walk.

Dog heaven, and as one of the captions reads - "this is why we work..."

Some weeks should never end.
