Monday, January 7, 2008 The Long View

Just vistas after a dark weekend of heavy rain (that happens every five or six years out here), things clear and the view from Mulholland Drive way up over Hollywood is pretty good. Looking south across the basin there's Hermosa Beach and the Palos Verdes peninsula poking out into the Pacific just across the water, and far in the distance, twenty-six miles across the sea, Catalina.  The notch in the island is Avalon and as you recall, someone left their love in Avalon, across the sea.

Looking east, snow in the mountains
