Tuesday, July 17, 2007 – The Sixties Persist

A bit of Americana at Venice Beach – where the sixties never ended – Diane's Ark, "The Spirit of Venice," and the companion truck in the lot where Rose Avenue ends at Ocean Front Walk.   Note the Dennis Kucinich sticker – he was born on October 8, 1946, so that fits, as in 1968, the year just about everything happened, he would have been twenty-two. Kucinich is, of course, known by many as "The Peace Candidate" – he did receive the 2003 Gandhi Peace Award. He also re-introduced legislation to create a United States Department of Peace (HR 808) on February 5, 2007. He may have been Mayor of Cleveland once, but they like Congressman Kucinich at Venice Beach.

Nearby additional Americana – cowboy hats for sale –

And you just don't see street musicians like this anymore –
