The old "World Famous" Hollywood Palladium on Sunset Boulevard – being rebuilt.  It opened September 23, 1940, with a concert by Frank Sinatra and the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra, and over the years it has hosted the Oscars, the Emmy Awards, the Grammy Awards – and the Grateful Dead, Rolling Stones, James Brown, Led Zeppelin, Madonna and Barbra Streisand. It was built by film producer Maurice M. Cohen on the site of the original Paramount Pictures.  It needs work.

The local milieu on Vine – a palm reader, a Peruvian restaurant, someone sprayed the word "riot" on the wall.  Paul De Longpre (1855-1911) was the famous French painter – he did flowers,  He ended up in Hollywood. His old mansion on Hollywood Boulevard was torn down long ago. They named a street after him.
