Friday, July 25, 2008 – Ventura Highway

If you're of a certain age you remember that pop song from the seventies about life out here, Ventura Highway.  You just never had any idea what the song was about – "Seasons cryin' no despair / Alligator lizards in the air…"  That's okay. It may not have been about anything at all.

Ventura Boulevard, which runs from Studio City way up north and west to the next county, Ventura County, is like the song – perhaps about nothing at all, just images. Here's the Whitefire Theater, Ventura Boulevard at Sunnyslope, in Sherman Oaks. It's very evocative, without a whole lot of actually meaning.

Across the street, just a pig under a palm tree –

Nearby, an odd shop selling expensive children's clothes –

And on our Ventura Highway, odd sidewalk messages –
