Tuesday, January 20, 2009 Heroic Patriotism

Yucca Vine Tower, 6305-09 Yucca Street (at Vine), H. L. Gogerty of Gogerty & Weyl Architects, 1928

Yep, the flag and some eagles, the day of the inauguration of Barack Obama as the forty-fourth president, as the third act of America begins.  You remember Act One, starring Thomas Jefferson All Men Are Created Equal. And you remember Act Two, Lincoln and then the end of the Civil War No, Really, They Are. Tuesday, January 20, 2009, was the beginning of Act Three Getting It Right.

This is the Yucca Vine Tower, 6305-09 Yucca Street (at Vine), H. L. Gogerty of Gogerty & Weyl Architects, 1928 now the central feature of the Los Angeles campus of the American Musical and Dramatic Academy.  Architects did heroic back then, with watchmen and everything.
