Friday, November 5, 2010 – World Famous

California Bank Branch, 1929, John and Donald B. Parkinson - 5620 Hollywood Boulevard at Gramercy Place in East Hollywood

Well, maybe it’s not world famous. It just looks like it ought to be. It's the former California Bank Branch, 1929, John and Donald B. Parkinson – 5620 Hollywood Boulevard at Gramercy Place in East Hollywood – a concrete Art Deco tower, just restored. It appeared in the 1997 film L.A. Confidential – Warner Brothers slapped on a temporary marquee and pretended it was a theater. But it's too monumental for that. It ought to be famous.
