Tuesday, February 22, 2011 – Up in Hollywood

Kodak Theater, Hollywood Boulevard

That's George Eastman's star in the sidewalk in front of the Kodak Theater on Hollywood Boulevard. It's that time again. They hand out the Academy Awards, the Oscars, here on Sunday. Now it's tourists and construction. And that's just the flavor of life out here. It's on odd place to end up after all these years.

And James Dean is still hanging around –

Nearby, the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel, where they held the first Academy Awards in 1929 – a private dinner for insiders, in the Blossom Room –
