Monday, September 15, 2008 – Ersatz Warhol

Andy Warhol was born Andrew Warhola on August 6, 1928, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania – and his parents were working-class immigrants of Rusyn ethnicity from Miková, in what used to be the Austro-Hungarian Empire and now in northeastern Slovakia.

You photographer here was born on June 27, 1947, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania – and his parents were Czech on one side and Slovak on the other, also from what used to be the Austro-Hungarian Empire.

Two can play at this game – or maybe growing up in Pittsburgh does something to you.
