	Friday, January 1, 2010 – Day One The first day of 2010 – a new year, and out here, unless you go to the Tournament of Roses Parade out in Pasadena, or stay home nursing a hangover and watching bowl games, you go to the beach. There's the big empty ocean and the breeze scrubbed clean by a thousand miles of the Pacific, and the hopeful sunshine and all that. But this year opened with spooky clouds and a strange quiet. This is Venice Beach on New Year's Day. This does not bode well.









	Greeting the New Year –




	Well, it was low tide. That will change.
