Wednesday, October 15, 2008 – Dream Boulevard

Oh, you know the story.  It's in the movies. The dewy-eyed kid from Nebraska runs away to Hollywood – the long bus ride across the long miles of what seems like nothing to the land of dreams, where the kid knows he or she will be discovered, and of course become a movie star, or these days, at least a celebrity of some sort.  These things always end badly.  Let's start at the bus station, just north of Hollywood Boulevard.

Bus Station, Hollywood

Across the street –

Okay, okay, down on the corner this doesn't look so bad –

Okay, the storefronts on the boulevard are a little discouraging –

Above all that, there's this.  Better join up –

Scientology Building, Hollywood Boulevard

So this is Hollywood and Vine?

Even the lunch counters out here seem strange –

And there's this, at the shop that sells belly-dancing gear –

The streets of Hollywood are just strange –
