Saturday, October 25, 2008 – Late October

Of course late October out here is a bit different than late October in upstate New York or Pittsburgh or Paris – in the nineties every day and dry as a bone, the Santa Ana winds howling at dawn and fires in the hills. No trees change color – palms don't do that – and there's no nip in the air or the faint scent of burning leaves. We don't have seasons out here. You get used to it. The flowers everywhere make up for what you miss, perhaps.
