Thursday, December 11, 2008 – True Hollywood

That would be Sunset and Vine of course, now with Yuppie condos –

Okay, Lana Turner wasn't discovered while sipping a soda at Schwab's Drug Store after school one day – just something the promotional folks made up. And Schwab's Drug Store wasn't here – it was two miles west on Sunset, at Laurel Avenue, not Vine.  And the fake for-the-tourists Schwab's Drug Store here at Sunset and Vine went under.  All that's left is the sign, referencing nothing in particular. But it is Hollywood history, after all.

Across the street … Lights! Camera! Action!  But not really.

Set in stone, on the front of the Washington Mutual branch bank on the northeast corner of Sunset and Vine, Bette Davis and Sarah Bernhardt.  They're both dead now

It's not just movies.  Just up the street there's the famous recording studio – been there since 1969.

Sound Factory, Ivar and Selma, Hollywood

Of course, that was an interesting year, as noted here at Sunset and Vine.

But Hollywood is all about taking pictures, after all.

What's this doing here? Sorry.
