Tuesday, May 18, 2010 The Forgotten Indian

It seldom rains in Los Angeles, but when it does everything you see seems fraught with odd meaning

The Electric Fountain - from 1931 - on the corner of Wilshire and Santa Monica Boulevards. The plaza and fountain re the work of the architect Ralph Carlin Flewelling and the sculpture is by Robert Merrell Gage.

You only notice it on dark, moody days. This is the Electric Fountain from 1931 on the corner of Wilshire and Santa Monica Boulevards, one of the busiest intersections in the world. The plaza and fountain are the work of the architect Ralph Carlin Flewelling and the sculpture is by Robert Merrell Gage (more here). No one pays attention to it when it's sunny. It spooks you when it's not
